A note from the teacher:
To my dearest pupils of Pri 6 Hibiscus 2006,
(Alex G, Alexandrea, Amanda Fong, Amanda Goh, Amanda Yong, Annabel, Bianca, Jasmine, Charlene Wee, Charmaine, Cheyenne, Christine, Shalyn, Cheryl, Wenyi, Stefanie, Kimberly, Jessie, Kimberley, Janine, Daphnie, Abigail, Phylicia, Vivienne, Stacia, Sofya, Germaine, Nicole, Phedra, Charlene Quek, Michelle, Samantha, Sheri, Victoria, Vanessa, Eri, Jae-Mie, Claire, Alicia)
Time flies! Unknowingly, I have been your teacher for 2 years. And for some (Alex G, Shalyn Chia, Vanessa and Victoria), it’s even longer!! I’m glad we made it this far. Hip hip hooray (x3)!!!!
It seems like only yesterday. I still remember vividly
• first day of school in 2005 where I introduced myself to you, stating of rules (the “green-respect for self’, ‘yellow-respect for others” and “blue-respect for school” signs on the class notice board)
• my very first impression of the class (very quiet and obedient girls!! Very smart-looking!!!)
• the first few science lessons we had at the linkway between 2Bo and 2Ca (you had to do presentation about a planet on mahjong paper)
• the “first and only” class party we had after the P5 mid-year exams (Victoria brought muffins, Alex Lim brought jellies, etc)
• the outings to the Science center (I disallow the buying food from Macdonalds)
• the NE show (Janine was sitting next to me)
• Sports Day 2005 (Cheyenne went off with Cheryl without informing me, the class waited while I made numerous calls)
• lecturing the class about being responsible and how you should not be going to friend’s house without informing your parents (in P5, all thanks to Vivienne who stayed till 9pm at Daphnie’s house, playing X-box)
• the P5 Camp (cheering Jasmine and Janine on as they ‘walked’ across the rope)
• preparation for the EL Library Week (the Indian accent that Bianca had, Sheri as the drummer boy)
• the endless scoldings (mainly Sheri) and nagging
• the preparation for PSLE 9boring!)
• going through answers for maths (what a dread!)
• ‘chasing” after consent forms, homework, etc, etc, etc….
There are actually lots more, but I think I would need at least a day to get everything down. Anyway, wow, all the memories…no doubt, it hasn’t been all plain sailing. There has been ups and downs, happy moments, as well as, sad moments. But I enjoyed every one of it. It has been really wonderful teaching you. And I am glad we got through all these as a class.
Therefore, I like to take this opportunity to thank everyone of you for making this 2 years a memorable one for me. Thanks for being such lovely, kind, patient and understanding children.
But sadly, it’s also time to say goodbye. I think it’s time for me to “hand you over” to someone else.
Like how Ms Chew, Mrs Yeoh and all the teachers have been taking care of you for the past 6 years, I am sure you will be well taken care of in the secondary school you will be going to. Enjoy the new experience that your secondary school has to offer, I am sure you will enjoy each and every moment there, as you have had in SACPS. It’s going to be very exciting.
Do treasure the friends you have made in SACPS.
Lastly, I like to wish all of you all the very best in your future endeavours and of course, all the best for your PSLE, hope you will get good grades and go to the secondary school of your choice.
With love,
Ms Ashley Mong, your teacher.
